Direct Action Organizing Workshop

Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 — Two sessions available

  • Session 1: 9:00am - 12:00pm @ Lewiston Public Library Callahan Hall

  • Session 2: 1:30pm - 4:30pm @ Lewiston Public Library Callahan Hall

Direct Action Organizing is about organizing around an issue win a change. We focus on how to plan and implement effective issue advocacy through organizing people to act together and think strategically. The purpose of the training being offered is to learn how to plan strategy by understanding Direct Action Organizing for local, regional, and state-wide advocacy. Most importantly, the training makes people rightfully put strategy before tactics by introducing the strategy chart, which is the most important tool for successful campaign planning. Additionally, participants learn to think about power as the factor that can determine winning or losing. Followed by a public beer garden and PechaKucha talks. Note: The content discussed in Session 1 will be the same as the content in Session 2. We encourage folks to take advantage of one of the sessions, and join the Tactical Urbanism Workshop (below) before or after.
